About Schoolhouse Simple
Choosing homeschool curriculum should not require a PhD in research. There are hundreds of programs out there, everyone has an opinion, and most review sites are just trying to sell you something.
Schoolhouse Simple exists to cut through the noise. We do the research, compare the options side by side, and give you honest recommendations so you can make a confident decision for your family.
What We Do
- Side-by-side comparisons — we put the most popular programs head to head so you can see the real differences, not just marketing claims
- Honest pros and cons — every program has strengths and weaknesses. We tell you both so you know what you are getting into
- Budget-friendly options — great education does not require expensive packaged programs. We always include free and low-cost picks alongside premium options
- Learning differences — we pay special attention to how programs work for kids with ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning needs
Our Approach
We research curriculum by reading what real homeschool families say — in forums, Facebook groups, co-op meetups, and review communities. We cross-reference pricing, check what grade levels are actually covered, and look at how programs perform for different kinds of learners.
We do not believe in one-size-fits-all recommendations. The right curriculum depends on your child, your teaching style, your budget, and your goals. Our job is to give you enough information to make that choice yourself.
Who We Cover
Our guides cover the full range of homeschool curriculum — traditional programs like BJU Press and Abeka, literature-based options like Sonlight and BookShark, budget-friendly picks like The Good and the Beautiful and Easy Peasy, subject-specific programs like Saxon Math and All About Reading, and online platforms like Power Homeschool and Bina School.
If families are using it, we are probably reviewing it.
Affiliate Disclosure
Schoolhouse Simple participates in affiliate programs. When you click certain links on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. This helps us keep the site running and continue researching new curriculum options.
We only recommend products and programs we have thoroughly researched and genuinely believe will help your homeschool family. Our recommendations are never influenced by affiliate relationships — if a program is not good, we will not recommend it regardless of commission rates.
